It was not the nicest of weather as the team set forth from North Devon for the annual battle between cream first and cream last. However, the forecast was good, and everyone was looking forward to a relaxed bacon butty, coffee and then a short warm up and a bit of putting practice.
It was a bit of a shock then that on arrival they found out that tee times were an hour earlier than expected. One and all laid the blame on normally well organised Captain for the day, Fenton. He had apparently forgotten about the Devon/Cornwall time difference.
There was a dash to get bacon butties delivered to first tee but in the end all pairings managed to get off an hour early.
Lack of warm up and putting practice showed up in the result. We lost 6.5 to 1.5 on the day and 8.5 to 7.5 overall. Most matches were close with four being lost on the eighteenth. There was a win for the Cross Fisher and a half point for the Ginger Tayl.
A fine meal was served an hour earlier than planned which meant that everyone was able to surprise their wives/partners with an early return home. What a bonus.
